Working With Us
Putting the joy back into teaching
At Joy to Learn we pride ourselves in carefully matching tutors with children and providing on going support and training. We facilitate a positive relationship between tutor and family.
We specialise in providing tuition for children who are taught at home and as such, most of our tuition takes place during the day. We provide tuition for children of all ages and levels from Preschool to A-Level.
We are looking for qualified teachers across all subjects. We are also looking for people who are not qualified teachers but are industry professionals who are able to share their knowledge and experience with home-educated children, for example artists, musicians, accountants, engineers, performers, foreign language teachers and business professionals.
If you have skills and experience that you could use to teach a home-educated child in an academic or creative subject, we would love to hear from you.
You will be self-employed and responsible for submitting your own tax-returns.
As a conventional tutor, you will work with families whose children are home educated.
Some of our families are looking for a tutor for one or two hours per week over a short period of time, while others are looking for a more long-term arrangement where you will be the main provider of the child's education.
We are looking for teachers who are able to deliver an all-round education in multiple subjects as well as those who just teach a specialised subject; academic or creative. You can choose your hours, your specialism and the age of children you would like to work with. Let us know if you have any additional experience, for example teaching children with special needs.
As an EHCP tutor, you are making a long-term commitment to a child's education.
Children who have an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and who are taught at home, may have their education funded by the Local Authority. These children are usually home-educated because they have special educational needs or were struggling at school due to mental health or bullying.
The job entails more than just teaching as you will need to build up a relationship with the family and gain the child's trust in order to be able to deliver their education.
We will provide training to prepare you for the role.
