Discoverers' Club

Home Ed Activity Learning Days

Ages 6-16

(5 year olds can also join if they would be in school year 1)

Discoverers' Club aims to provide high quality learning experiences for home educated children, while providing parents with a much needed break so that they can rest or be able to work.

The club runs on Thursdays usually during term time.

About the Club

Join Clare and Hannah on a journey of discovery as we delve into a new topic each week. Explore through hands on activities, experiments, creativity, story telling and more. We use a project work approach to help supplement and support your child's home education. Project work focuses on an over arching theme such as 'The Romans', 'Leonardo Da Vinci', 'Pioneers', 'Farming' etc, which becomes a launching pad for exploration. Children will cover subjects such as English, Maths, Science, Geography, History, Performing Arts, Creative Arts, Languages and Engineering in a fun and engaging way.

Our activity learning days take place in our large home, where as well as a comfortable living room and equipped kitchen, we have a dance studio, large garden and also a quiet room if children need some time away from the busyness of the day. We provide a home from home environment and have lots of books, equipment and resources that the children can make use of.

We keep our group sizes small and have a high adult to child ratio, ensuring that children are given 1-1 attention and that we are able to provide high quality tuition. Clare and Hannah both have DBS checks. Some activities will be done with all of the children together, while at other times they will be split into smaller groups. Children will need to bring their own lunch if they are staying for the whole day. They will also need to bring outdoor clothes suitable for the weather.

Our Discoverers' Club is not a school and is not designed to be your child's only form of education. The club aims to supplement and support your child's education by providing activities and learning experiences that they might not be able to have at home, while also providing social opportunities for the children and some respite for parents.
